Grandma hugged her instead of Baalbek… But who refused the” army Square ” in the city of the sun

If all the squares were for the army, they wanted to honor him, along with the security forces, with a typical cosmetic square, “Fatherland square”. Do you remember them, the trio of the “Lebanese Association for coexistence and Development”, University Professor Hussein Hassan, banker Mohammed Solh and engineer Michel Ghosn? – They are the ones who set up “Maryam Square” at the entrance of the commercial market of Baalbek, in 2014, she unveiled a flag and a landmark in the city, and a forum to commemorate events, the latest of which was the decorations she wore for the occasions of the Prophet’s birth and Christmas, achieving their goal of setting up, consecrating the “city of the sun” شركة a company and partnership, in order to achieve the goal for which the association established “consolidating the spirit of coexistence, the development of people and the stone, believing in the message of Lebanon as an oasis of pluralism in the Orient”.
Therefore, the second Square had to be to honor the protector of Lebanese pluralism and coexistence, so the Baalbaki trio designed their project to establish a new unitary landmark in their city, the “army square”. They chose a place for her in the lair of legitimacy in Baalbek, at the roundabout opposite the Baalbek government Serai, and close to the Baalbek municipal headquarters. They took their project to SGBL Bank, which, in the person of its General Manager Antoine sahnawi, hastened to approve the financing of Baalbek’s desire to embrace a monument honoring the army in its most crowded traffic points, a desire represented by the approval of the Baalbek Municipal Council on the project. The bank spent an amount of 45 million liras for this purpose, and the discussion on the design of the square’s figure began, if not for the fact that the project collided with the so-called “municipal work Association” affiliated to Hezbollah, which, in the person of its chairman Hussein al-Nimr, vaguely and then explicitly refused to establish the square not only in Baalbek, but also the subsequent rejection of the association’s attempt to move the army Square to the entrance to the town of Dors, but also affected the 86 municipalities under the trusteeship of the association. However, al-Nimr, in Al-Nahar’s communication with him, replied that it was not possible to establish the “army Square” until the Baalbek municipality is working on a guideline for the area.
What Baalbek lost, the municipality of gdita received with great enthusiasm from its mayor Wahib qeqano and other members of the municipal council, when the members of the Assembly put forward the project to establish the square on the public road at the intersection of gdita. The mayor even proposed to develop the idea into a”national square”. “We, as a municipality, believe that the security institutions are the only institutions that guarantee the security and unity of the country, and the only ones that sacrifice blood for all the people of the country. If there is no doubt that the army is the backbone of these institutions, but we should not forget about the Internal Security Forces, Public Security, State Security and deny them their right,”he said.
Thus, the “Fatherland Square” was born, where a monument to Bashar al-Assad used to rise during the days of the Syrian regime’s guardianship over Lebanon, which was removed with the withdrawal of the Syrian army, and the “Future Movement” planted an olive tree in its place in the name of the martyred president Rafik Hariri. The “Lebanese Association for coexistence and development” and the municipality of jedita, with their guests of deputies, mayors and events, opened the square on Saturday, under the auspices of the army commander represented by Brigadier General Adnan Abu Yassin and in the presence of representatives of the leaders of the Internal Security Forces, General Security and state security.
Engineer Michel Ghosn, the designer and designer of the square, explained that ” Watan Square is a square that means a lot to us because it has all our faith. It was designed not to be for a person or an end, but to be a symbol of the whole homeland to which we longed, we longed to achieve it even with a gesture and even with a word that could be heard in the whole Homeland. A few meters is what we needed to express our wound about the martyrs who fell to keep the homeland. The circular shape is a sign of infinity and perfection, our young people from the army and security forces are always ready to be brave, sacrifice themselves and testify for the sake of the homeland, despite the Black color of the granite tiles that overwhelmed trying to take away from them the perfection of honor, sacrifice and loyalty, and we remember their testimony and preserve it for them forever, endlessly. President Hariri’s olive tree pierces that blackness as a sign of peace, a sign of defiance, because it is a tree raised under all circumstances, and the blood of martyrs blooms in peace and hope. The circle rises in the form of a cone, which is the form of Ascension, and the soldier, when he sacrifices himself for the Fatherland, ascends as a martyr to heaven, where he becomes holy. Let a flame rise above it in the middle of a cedar tree, untouched because our martyrs redeemed it with their blood, and with it they painted our Flag, they died so that Lebanon may live. While the flame looks like a torn cloth, and at the same time it escalates because the testimony is taken from itself, but it is always above, even if it is given from itself, it is always ready to protect the homeland. The flame is on the colors of the Lebanese flag because the army and the security forces of all Lebanon, without prejudice, and the flag covers all categories,”he said.
In gdita, the “Fatherland Square” was born, with a promise from the mayor that “every year we celebrate the anniversary of each military institution with a proper and proper celebration, and national holidays, so there remains a constant vitality in this square”.
“You are the origin, the identity, the present, the past and the future. We want you as we know you and as we have brought you up with the title of security, integrity and safety, we do not want anyone but you, we do not want only your strength, firmness and law,” that is the message sent by the Lebanese Association for coexistence and development to the army and the security services by Mohammed Al-Solh, and completed by Hussein Hassan “we are the children of the state and the state only”.
